SurgeX, a leader in advanced power protection, diagnostic intelligence, remote monitoring, and cloud solutions, introduces the new multi-award winning Squid power management device. Designed to fulfil the unique needs of today’s collaborative and flexible meeting spaces and digital signage/video applications, it defines a new category for power quality. Squid streamlines installation by combining multiple features in a compact design to offer a completely contained, boxed network control, analytics of AC/DC, and USB protection in a single application.
Squid, which has already been awarded mulitple industry accolades including Cedia's Best New Products and CE Pro Best Products award 2020, features front-end protection with SurgeX’s patented Multi-Stage surge suppression technology, as well as monitoring and management capabilities. Squid includes two 5V USB port inputs for charging and network troubleshooting, eight outputs, four of which are traditional controlled and monitored IEC receptacles, and four are DC ports, so integrators can eliminate the need for wall warts or a two-box solution. By using a relay-based system, the AC and DC ports can be controlled independently, and the device can be monitored and easily integrated into third party control systems.
Available in three models for (2) 12V, (2) 24V, and a combination of the two, integrators can use Squid to power small spaces and keep them running smoothly with preventative maintenance, mounting the small device in the rack, behind a flat panel, mounted under a table, or integrated into a table hatch. With built-in autosensing, Squid is also the first SurgeX product with universal compatibility with 120V to 240V, allowing global companies to simplify installations and spec the same product into its offices worldwide. As a proper, intelligent, and flexible power foundation, Squid offers SurgeX Axess ELITE capabilities such as sequencing, scheduling, auto-ping, IP Control, monitoring, and management, helping integrators reduce service calls through proactive management. Squid features built-in diagnostic monitoring, similar to the popular SurgeX enVision, providing a single solution for management, mitigation and control of the system’s power.
“SurgeX equipment is the choice for integrators looking for a reliable power foundation to support their installations. Our conditioning, diagnostic, and surge suppression devices support a range of AV installations.” said Lauren Simmen, Director of Marketing for SurgeX. Simmen continues, “As the market has changed and we see a growing number of smaller huddle and flex spaces being built, we saw the need to develop a product to ease the most common problems in this space. We created Squid as the single solution for both AC and DC in the same chassis with the added benefits of front-end protection, filtration, and SurgeX patented multi-stage surge suppression technology. Integrators can choose Squid to eliminate problematic wall warts and faulty power strips, streamline installations, reduce service calls, and to give them the confidence that their customers can meet quickly, easily, and without disruption from anywhere in the world.”
